Event Organization
Discord
Events are organized through Storybook Brawl's Discord, in the 'Tournament Info' channels.
- Eligible, registered players recieve the
@Tournament Competitor
role and access to these channels leading up to each event. - Follow tournament organizer (TO) instructions in these channels.
- Announcements are posted in the
#event-announcements
channel. - The
#tournament-general
channel is open for participant discussion. If you have a question for the TOs, ping the@Tournament Official
role or a specific TO. - Additional channels and roles are used during the event to organize specific flight and pod discussion.
- A Discord bot (TObot) helps manage the event. Score reporting and other player actions are done using bot commands.
Check-in
Be on Discord 15 minutes before your event time for check-ins and announcements.
- A check-in message will be posted for your flight. React to this message with the ✅ emoji to check in.
- If you are not checked in when the TOs generate your round, you will be dropped from the event.
Rounds and matches
Pods are generated each round. TObot assigns players to channels and roles for their pod each round.
- TObot posts a message to pod's players in their channel, and indicates a pod captain and a room name for the round.
- The pod captain is responsible for creating the in-game group lobby with the room name and starting the match when all players are ready.
- The captain creates the lobby in-game and then messages the players to join.
- When the remaining players appear to have joined, the captain should announce that they are about to start the match.
- If you don't see yourself in the lobby at this point, say so immediately.
- Report any issues at or before the Hero select screen to the TO so the lobby can be remade. Warning: misreporting issues to affect Hero selections will result in immediate disqualification from the tournament.
- After all players have chosen heroes and proceeded into the game successfully, the lobby will run to completion — it will not be restarted if you have an issue after this point.
- When you finish your match, report your placement in your pod channel with the !finish # bot command (ex.
!finish 3
). - If you wish to drop from the tournament before completing your rounds, you may use the !drop bot command in your current pod's channel after reporting your placement.
- If you have enough Day One points to qualify for Day Two and wish to drop, you may still participate in Day Two.
- Ping your TO in your pod channel if you have any issues with the pod or using these commands.
- The TOs will start the next round as soon as the current round finishes. Be sure to follow TO & bot announcements to know when the next round is generated or if there are delays.
Coverage
Most SBBMonthly Day One flights are not covered on Twitch:
- Streaming your own gameplay is allowed, though at your own risk of other participants watching you. Using a stream delay is highly recommended.
Some SBBMonthly Day One flights, all of Day Two, and both days of Championships are covered on Twitch:
- Each round, coverage will choose a featured player.
- The featured player's pod is covered that round.
- Coverage will use an in-game spectate mode to observe the players.
- The TO may post additional instructions for the featured pod.
- Streaming to another platform like Twitch is allowed, using a stream delay that matches or exceeds the main broadcast (15 minutes), but must be in addition to streaming to Discord during featured pods.
- If streaming to multiple platforms degrades the Discord stream's quality too much to be featured, you will be asked to only stream to Discord.
